12 Travel Tips For Hampi - A Unesco World Heritage Site in India

Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Karnataka, India. Hampi was once the capital of the Vijaynagar. The place is worth a visit for its beautiful ruins from the ancient architecture, the temples, royal vibrance, old aquatic structures and street markets. Hampi is a lesser population destination but definitely worth it.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when planning a trip to Hampi.

Hampi can be reached by road, rail and air. It is well connected.

You can explore the city by bicycle or on foot the best. Motorcycles and rickshaws, boats are other favourable options.

Buy a local map and you will have it easy exploring the place on your own.

There are conventionally famous places to see. All these places are on the Hampi Bus Stand side of the river.’

Explore the Ayurveda in the city. There are affordable and easily available centres for massages, treatments.

Carry cash as there are no real working ATMs available in the city.

Do not expect to find alcohol at local places as Hampi has its religious beliefs. There are limited and very rarely available places that serve beer and wine.

Do not expect fancy places to stay at as you’ll only find some really basic guest houses in the city.

The food is good and affordable but you’ll have to wait a lot for your order at most places.

Shop for local stuff and handicrafts for ten times cheaper prices in Hampi as the same products are sold for way more in cities like Bangalore.
